The sad reality that besets the church today is that there is so much talk about discipleship and the practical Christian life but a failure to understand the gospel.
Comprehending the gospel is the most basic and most essential foundation of the Christian upon which we build our lives. A misunderstanding and misinterpretation of the gospel will send people to everlasting fire. Without this true foundation, we might be found discipling unbelievers and giving them a false assurance of salvation.
This defeats the purpose of Christ who came to save the lost and share His life with them. A failure to communicate the gospel in its entirety deludes people into a false sense of security. Many will think that they are believers simply because they have joined themselves to a church or are attending a Bible study. We could be found producing “churchants” and not Christians.
